I just realized Yaddie's 'addition' is actually his new Man Cave, because now that he's mostly retired and around the house all the time, Baby Doll is getting tired of him straightening the pictures with a laser and electrifying the flatware. The speaker was the tell here. Yaddie is going to spend many happy hours puttering in the 'addition', out of his wife's hair, re-engineering who knows what. He may even set up his PC down there and post more often. We can only hope.

This is only the beginning. He purchased the lot next door so he can build a brand new house just for her so she doesn't have to deal with him anymore.

I remembered that you saw AC DC way back when around the time I did ('79) so I was projecting. The more time that goes by, the more obvious it is how some of the bands and artists were beyond compare. MT and The Allman Bro's fit right in that groove, IMO.

No, I saw AC/DC in Greensboro NC around year 2000. I remember the year since I drove my '98 Mustang GT to meet up with my buddy Butch , then on to meet his pharmaceutical rep. We got in the reps car, he treated us to dinner, the concert, and strip bars after. Then Butch and I drove off and I did some donuts in the parking lot. What a hoot.

There is about 1/2" clearance. But since I was able to tuck the new vent up higher than the "professionals" set the old one, it will be moved when I raise the drop ceiling.

The new house on that lot will have a four car garage with a ceiling high enough for four post lifts, doors face the rear. The garage will be accessed from my existing driveway. A small front driveway will hold two vehicles for the main level renters.

I'm thinking of doing a chalet style, 6:12 gable front with large overhangs supported by round timbers.

I replaced the water main yesterday. Now my main shut-off is as close to the entrance as possible, with a PRV immediately downstream.

My original plumber had installed the valve above the ceiling and behind the boiler in my garage, with no PRV. Our street pressure here is about 140psi.

I only have an inch of insulation space behind this box. So I'll put a foam board back there and keep the box warm with a 3-feet length of 38-degree heat tape. The rest of the wall will be closed cell spray foam.

The line through the wall has plastic insulators, same as through the studs or blocking, except on both sides. The pex can't touch the concrete between them. If the inspector requests it, I can insert a 1" x 8" long pex sleeve by slicing along its length.

The first picture shows an unused insulator. There is a threaded male adapter at the outlet end of the PRV inserted through the hole in the blocking that prevents pex-wood contact, so that insulator is not needed.

The 2nd picture shows the inlet end of the PRV- it's a union, enabling removal of it or the upstream ball valve. To access the union, remove the upper copper hanger. Both hangers are easily removed by first removing the two stainless steel 1-5/8" deck screws that fasten the plate to the wall stud. The plates are turned slightly for better access of the screws. The screws are T20 drive- nearly impossible to strip.
