At some point, it's not a matter of what you are going to do with the money. It's just a way of keeping score.

Aristotle Onasis once said "After you have all the money you need the rest is about power".

That kind of $$ is just incomprehensible to me; I truly wouldn't know what to do with it after a relatively short time, other than start giving it away. I'm not sure I could even give it away wisely.

you could always buy another monitor, or maybe even 100 of them!

likewise, as i've written before, if someone dumped a pile of money on my lap, i'd set aside about 2M for my own use, and give the rest away. would take about 2 years i figure.

if you had 7.5B ($7,500,000,000), and it was invested at 4%, that would throw off $300,000,000 annually, or about $821,917 every single day.

i'd have a hard time spending $821,917 over the course of a year.

might get a new truck, maybe a new lathe for the shop, some lumber, and a fancy pistol or two, and maybe a tank/trailer combo for hauling water, but then i'm out of ideas. we have a nice house, i don't want or need something fancier or larger. i'm good.

live simple, live happy.

In the 80s, I was the Community Development VP and then President of a charitable volunteer organization. Basically my job was to spend about 200K per year on Community Service projects. To do that properly and be sure the money gets to where it was most deserved was a much larger task than I would have ever thought.

That's too much for a person to have. Clearly, assets must be seized and distributed to those who have no money and would prefer not to have to work.

There are no rules as to how he spends his money, despite the push by Warren Buffet and Bill Gates to push their peers into the living trust doctrine. Jeff Besoz kinda makes that case. He has just blown by both of them, and I don't fault him for doing whatever the hell he wants with the money he accumulated. He doesn't owe the world shit. Those that think he does are misguided.

I just want to build a 2 1/2 car garage. The last time we built a garage the neighborhood became a receptacle for section 8 and other subsidized housing recipients and after the wife saw another youth wandering down the street with a pistol in both hands we opted out. That was 15 years ago.

Wife has 3 acres, one is all trees/woods, with a double wide and a stick built on it....nice family compound...used to be a decent/clean burb, but as usual for any burb that's ~75 years old by now....it's going down hill FAST, the last 20 years not been kind, the next block over, a whole subdivision is now sect 8 housing drugs/guns but SO FAR her place has avoided most of that....but as usual, the entire region is getting overrun with illegals....as with most cities....

OUR/my burb here is not in Jax/Duvall Co. so we don't have the taxes, and crap to put up with on THAT scale, but I feel so lucky in that I have a lower tax rate here just in my SW burb in Clay Co.....BUT, the developments and overbuilding of McMansions south of us has added IMMENSELY to the congestion and of course that greatly magnifies the errors in traffic light sequencing, causing typical backups all over the joint....but SO FAR no real signs of decay, but one thing is most of this burb built in '72, and as with most developments, we have the convenience of shopping for anything at most 1.3 miles away, and a Walfart down the road about 4 miles, so a tank of gas in the vette lasts almost 2 months....not so awful evil.....MY street here has lost two of the old guys, long term residents, and most everyone is in their 70's .....scared for every house coming on the market as to avoid investors and sect 8 renters....

I got my wife's family into home remodeling trades and so she is the office worker, and does painting that is down near the floor sometimes...she is also a book keeper for many businesses around town, some of it online, some of it she travels.....but it gives her something to do, just wish she got more time off though, without her damn LEASH going off....(cellphone), think she was Donald Trump.......

he earned it honestly, it's all his.

question is, what is he going to do with it?

can't take it with you, any left becomes someone else's problem. so either he can make good/bad decisions now, or let others do likewise later.

I agree. It's nice when they do good things for humanity, but no they don't owe anyone anything. That said, I can't really comprehend that amount of money....

I think most of what these very rich people do with their money is motivated by tax law more than benevolence.
