Monday, I'm running a crew mowing a pipeline easement that runs through a residential exurb area. I usually chase mowers by following the streets adjacent to the ppl. They got ahead of me, so I figured I'd just run on ahead and not follow the easement street by street. Ended up getting horribly lost in suburban Hell. I had to get one of my operators to get me a street address nearby to them so I could find them. I was a couple of miles off course.

TL;DR: I got lost.

I didn't know the street names involved, as I usually just navigate by using the ppl ROW as a reference.

The last time I got lost I just stopped at a local Esso station and asked the attendant for one of those free promotional maps they had in a rack just inside the door. You don't have Esso where you were?

Edit... almost forgot. The nice young man at the island washed the windshield, offered to "check under the hood", and checked my tire pressures as well! What service.

I used to love those maps. Could never get them folded back up properly though.
