Thanks guys.... it's addicting... wish it was easier to get to the track more often like you can with drag racing. I'd like to go 2x a month, but funds don't allow that!

Thanks for posting the vids. Have a question: are you running a higher rear ratio than a stock Z06? Just watching your shifts,it appears you may have a 3.73 or 3.90 ratio. Thanks for the info.

Nope... 100% stock. Assume you know this, but the Z06 has a lower geared trans (higher numerical) than the coupe/vert. The MN12 trans in the Z06 is equivalent to putting 3.90s behind the standard coupe/vert MN6 gearbox. Everything is exactly the same except 4th because it's 1;1 in both the MN12 and MN6.
Most of the time I was short shifting a bit over 6000 rpms vs. winding it to 6500, but it may seem to rev fastaer because it does..... it pulls unlike any stock Z06 I've ever had. the car is about 300lbs lighter than a stock car and the wheels/tires are super light (way less rotational mass) so all of that contributes to the very quick acceleration. A guy at work was at the track I think the same day you were there, he was in a Mitsubishi. He made a comment to me about being surprised how fast all of the Vettes were. I told him many Vettes are fast but will not race him on the street. Thanks for educating some ricers.

Haha..... awesome. Yeah funny how many people are ignorant about a Corvette's ability on a road course. For some reason people think they must only be good in a straight line becuae they're American cars etc. etc.
People learn very quickly after a few track visits how good Corvettes really are. I mean the C5R and C6R programs did pretty good I realy don't think you can get a better car for the money... period. There is no better all around performer. I mean it took a $160,000 GT3RS Porsche to keep up with my old Z06 with a total of about $20k spent on it (including the puchase price of the car). |

I had a new Eclipse in my group and ran about even with me but I had a 340 lb. instructor so that made him look better ! Brian, with your weight reduction you were probably close to 600 lbs under me on the track, worth 70-80 hp. Has to be a great feeling car with those tires !...I watched the vids and also thought you were 390 geared. Was watching and even thought I saw 1st at oak tree ?

Oak tree is a 3rd gear corner in a Z06. I think I used 2nd one time in there when traffic really slowed me down.

Thanks for info...could barely see top of shifter. Instructor makes me use 3/4 only with a touch of 5th if oil temp rises but it stayed 260-5 and promply came back to 240 on checkered lap. What is the latest on Ryan ?
