What Gaetz and his rag tag coalition did should be emulated by voters everywhere. People elected that promptly turned around and stabbed the voters in the back should be replaced, period. Even if the replacement turns out to be the same kind of failure, at least it won't be the SAME failure. At least there will be consequences for failure, just as there usually is in the private sector.

You failed, you're fired. On to the next person. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way, because people won't vote to primary officeholders, except in extremely rare circumstances. It should be the norm to do that. It should be EXPECTED, that if you vote against your constituents, you get sent to the showers next election. What I would like to see is an office holder who took money from lobbyists, or Dem dark money entities like FTX, who then turns around and publicly votes against the interests of the lobbyists they took the money from.

"Hey, voters, I want you to know that yes, I took their money, and I am proudly front stabbing them, right here on the House floor, because their interests are not YOUR interests. I'm voting for your interests, and laughing that they tried to buy me off. Better luck next time! I'm here to vote for the interests of MY constituents, not lobbyists that have a different agenda."

Best. Campaign. Ad. EVAR.

Even better if there's a tape of the lobbyist telling the congressman what he wants in exchange for the money. "Hey, y'all, here's [insert name here] with FTX handing me money and encouraging me to vote against Jim Jordan. Well guess what, [insert name here] I took your campaign donation and am voting for Jordan anyway. No refunds!"

And the free publicity for the first congresscritter to do that would be off the charts. A true man bites dog story, and not from Florida, either, although technically, it could be a FL congresscritter.

I don't always agree with Mace, but the basic point is, Kevin made promises that he easily could have kept, like ordering whoever is in charge of the Capitol security cams to release all the footage. He could have done that the first week.

Single subject spending bills? That really shouldn't even BE political. Everyone should want that. Kevin is the gatekeeper, simply turn down any spending proposal that is not a single subject. Not hard, but Kevin couldn't do it. Hold a vote on term limits? Of course it wouldn't pass, but it was totally in his purview to put it up for a vote.

Kevin said he would do these things, even had it in writing, and....failed to do it. Willful failure should have consequences. Gaetz saw to it that there were consequences for failure. Why is that a bad thing?

If I promise shit to my customer, then willfully don't deliver, even though I certainly could have, there was no force majeure.....I'll get blown out and a new contractor will be hired. Why is Gaetz the bad guy for insisting that Kevin live up to what he promised in writing? I really don't get that.
