Count your blessings you don't live here. Our energy bill for home gas and electricity is off the hook as well. Almost 55 cents per kwh of electricity.
Plug in those EVs baby, cuz electrons are soooooo cheap!

National average is 15 cents per kwh. Liberal states ****ed up energy policy is responsible for those high rates. I wouldn't want to live in a shithole Blue state.

Yikes! If electricity was that expensive here, my electric bill would be over $1300/mo and even higher in winter. FJB!

Here I am bitching about $130.00/mo with the AC going and charging my car

It'll go down in the summer though since I don't keep the AC any lower than 75-76deg in my house.

How does your electric bill go DOWN in the Summer? That's when everyone's AC's are running overtime.

I keep my house warmer than most because I hate to be slightly cold. I also have really good insulation and lots of trees in my back yard on the southern side of the house providing shade. During the summer last year, my highest electric bill was $85.00

My summer electric bill is about $550-$650 per month with the AC set to 80.
In the winter, my heat is set to 66 and the gas is $245-$400 per month. My power bill is my biggest monthly expense, followed by food, which has doubled since 2020.

I pay next to nothing for heating or cooling. Just move with the seasons.

Do you keep the HVAC operational in your homes in your absence?

In the summer it will keep the humidity down and eliminate any potential mold or other problems.

In winter it will keep any freeze issues from being a problem.

No finished building should be left unconditioned for any length of time.

Not sure where you get that from. I have been doing it for years. Just drain the pipes and set up a ten buck dehumidifier system.

Well I have been doing it my way for over 30 years. Why do you think that running HAVC that could fail at anytime and run up bills for no apparent reason is better?

Edit ....Please tell me if I drain the pipes and control the humidity to under 30% what does running the HAVC system accomplish?

Well I guess your not going to answer. I see your way could fail and ruin the house. Or if working properly it could dry out the traps and fill the house with sewer gas.
