Default For those who want a GWiz update...
She'll be home here shortly for Thanksgiving, but so far she's assimilated nicely into college life. Formula SAE, as expected, has become a HUGE part of her life. She's looking like she'll finish the semester with all A's and 1 B. She is absolutely kicking ass in her mechanical engineering class where they are learning the 3D modeling program SolidWorks. She's like a duck to water in that program, and also uses the same program at FSAE.

She lives in a freshman dorm and has it decked out to the max. Has a huge computer with 4 monitors and a custom built desk top to support it.







While she didn't take her red Miata "skittles" nor her 2015 BRZ "toothless" to school, she found it too cumbersome, and dangerous, to be attending Formula SAE until midnight...1 am 3 nights a week in downtown Atlanta, so she bought herself a 3rd car...yes, another Miata..."baymax"



Baymax has 221k miles on him and looks really good, but smokes pretty badly when first turned on. The rings are getting old, but once the engine is warm and the rings expand, he stops smoking. Regardless, she has already purchased another 1.8L engine, which I'll pick up in a week, that we'll install over Christmas break.

Formula SAE absolutely adores her. They had 150+ applicants, accepted 45, and now have less than 10 regulars. She's now been put in charge of designing the new camshaft in solidworks, machining it via CNC, designing the intake and fabricating it with carbon fiber, and is now also going to work on programming the ECM.

Yes...the guys on the team are smitten with her. She's been hanging with a junior almost since the beginning.

She's onto round 5 with Cummins and has a final phone interview with the off road diesel engine division next Tuesday. If all goes well, she'll have summer internship as a freshman.

She has truly come into her own and realized that all of the time and effort that she took to be a great student and a "car chick" is really paying off in spades in such a short time as a college freshman.

Oh yeah, here's both Z06's.

You're 10 years late to the party. The girls have been putting boys in their place for a while here now.
Girls 35 and under are out earning and out "degreeing" the boys by 4+%.

While I appreciate your sentiment, and as a Dad with a couple awesome girls, it is the boys that need to catch up.

She's really digging using SolidWorks, and in typical GWiz fashion goes way beyond the expectations. They were instructed to model their first 3D object to be printed...basic shapes, blah blah blah. Being the Ninja Turtle Girl she is, she set her sights on replicating the Shellraiser truck from the 2012 series.
