It’s called “puffing” and every seller does it. Hell even someone selling used crap on Craigslist will puff about how the widget they are selling are “like new” and the “best” or “not available in most stores”.

I think there is a higher level of understanding proportionate to a person's level of cynicism. When we are young and naive, Santa hitting every house doesn't seem unreasonable. As we start to doubt his existence, we consider the impossibility of it all.

That goes for ads and marketing and all this as well.

The cynics will survive because they see the "angle", instead of just the "hook".

So it isn't false advertising then.

That level of discount IS available. Doesn't mean anyone gets it. That's not illegal. What would be illegal is if an active member of the US Army did not get $1000.00 off. That's a different story.
