The pin in that video is a cotter pin. I can’t tell what it’s in. They’re typically used to keep a nut from turning (look at the nut on the tie rod ends for an example) or something similar. They don’t take the place of a bolt to fasten things together.
Here’s an example: . |

Whether or not I have my facts straight on trade names (looks like I probably don't), my point is the same, that Nicole is not married to a Rochester carb if she wants to keep her car carbureted instead of going to EFI, and use original air filter parts. |

Details details people... The pin is used to keep the alignment shims from falling down into the frame. Started 68 or 69 using that design of slotted shims. |

Gotta wonder how many other half assed things were done to that car still waiting to be found. Hopefully not many. |

Well it was 3/4 done and alot left in limbo by Dub... If the current shop did this makes me wonder however.
I'd be taking wrenches and laying hands on most bolts make sure everything is tight if it was me. Suspension parts top of the list, brakes next... |

Oh i saw the links missing... You unfortunately got it back in various stages of completion. Close to a nightmare.
I've worked on partially completed projects... No way to know what's there or not until put it together, something is always missing.. Always. |

It’s so maddening. Even more so for dumb asses like us. We sokt know shit about cars. We spend hours researching minute details. Not as simple as just looking at AIM as he modified SO MANY THINGS! Like steering column. Went to start doing things in there and ended up having to purchase all original 68 column mounts because he had upgraded to 77 but only half was installed. No fuggin telling where all my original parts went. The wife told me a guy that has a corvette parts store “vette pros” his name is Gary came and took all the parts. I’ve reached out to humans his SIL with no response this last month as to if they have some of my parts. 68’s have a ton of one year only parts. |

No idea if shims in. I’ll have to know what the fuq I’m looking for. (I’m stew-pid”. If that pin retains shims I assume they are NOT IN as it was literally barely hanging when I spotted it. Wasn’t holding anything in place. |

I’ll have to get a different angle to take a look. Did it see any shims fall out so maybe they are still up in there. Every nut/bolt/fastener will be inspected before car is driven for sure! |

You're cramming a lifetime of learning into a short period... Most of us learned the same way... Hey something looks like it goes here, why is that loose and... Oh shit I forgot to tighten the lug nuts Ya know this would be the perfect opportunity to justify a four post lift so your back doesn't hurt working under this nor the Jag... You'd be surprised just bringing a car to a comfortable level can do for a bad back. |
