I was gonna bring that up. I am very much a "rules" kind of guy - I have a hard time making myself jaywalk.

The old ToS was as clear as could be, that vulgarity - even masked vulgarity - was against the terms of service, and yet many, many people got away with posting "fcuk" and $h1t and just spacing it out s h i t and similar. I got a warning for typing "s*it" a couple years ago and I was called out by a mod in the thread.
He said that you have to obscure two or more letters or it is an infraction.
I said something like "You've got to be kidding" and he posted the actual rule.

Apparently f*ck is too transparent, but nobody knows what f**k is.

Very few familiar names. It will be interesting to see what the reaction is to the slow down since OT is by far the biggest traffic area on CF

OT is also the highest traffic area of VB. The downside is that the actual vette forums at VB are pretty sparse. So basically VB *is* OT.

Not a problem for me since I'm vetteless.

I don't have any big problems with anyone over there, other than some of the mods that have pissed me off for what I consider to be trivial things.

I mentioned in a thread to a noob, that we were'nt allowed to badmouth any LEO's. This was to warn the noob about the direction his thread was taking. Instead, the thread disappeared, and I got a PM stating that my comment wasn't appreciated.

Also, some of my post's and threads were censored or disappeared for no apparent reason.
And then the PM when I posted "Sh!t".
And then the PM when I voted in an "Inappropriate Poll"

Here at CFOT, we don't "Vote people off of the island".

WTF?

A few days ago, I found out Liz got the permaban just for posting a pic of someone who had been banned.

To me, thats a bullshit thing to do.

Yes. I called IB to complain about being banned for raising money for the NCM and instead of listening to the problem, they made the offer to return my $200. Because going through my private messages is criminal, I told them to keep the money as I may yet pursue that.

They don't care. There are three levels of twenty somethings over there that you have to weed through (none giving a shit) before you can find anyone with authority to over ride an admin. I was told in pretty certain terms that as long as the site is profitable, there are no changes.

Thats another thing. When they ban you, your post stay. They will not delete the account. I had 30,000 posts. While a minor dent in the total, if you deleted every one's post that came from now banned members, I suspect that would be 15 - 20% of all posts on that forum. They need those numbers to justify the price they charge the advertisers.

I remember Troy telling a group of us that less than 10% of all registered members over there had more than 100 posts. Something like half had less than 10 posts. The vast majority of members are people who had a problem, asked a few questions, and never posted again. The site is under new ownership, but I doubt that has changed. When they shut down the homepages on CFOT, I had a LOT of pictures on there that I can't ever get back now. I was using it as an image backup.

Did they ever open it again? Did they delete everything?

I'm not sure what the deal is with those members with ridiculous post count.

They show up as having 4-5 billion posts, but the whole forum shows 35MM total posts.
I'm thinking it may be a glitch, although I don't think IB is above doing something like that.
