unbelievable.

made a custom cutting board for someone, sent it over a month ago, they got it on the 20th of march. still no check. they have been 'busy', 'overwhelmed', but they have time to post pics on FB of their new house being built, of them out with their children having fun. how hard is it to drop a check in the mail?

if you stiff me, i'll let the entire world know you have stiffed me.

i rarely ask for $$ upfront, i make things, send them at my expense, they get there, and folks send $$ as we agreed.

maybe i should change that idea.

if you want it for free, just ask. i might say yes. it's happened before. i've given away plenty of my work.

but you better have a good story. real good.

if you post pics of your new custom home being built, that's not a good story.

if you are working your ass off, paying off debts, and would like something to make your house more of a home, or to give to a loved one, say so. i can't read minds. i can think of several peeps here that i've done this with. hell, i might even send you something without being asked. just because.

I'm still alive. My output is more limited than some artists. But each piece is unique and hand crafted with care by me personally.

when you add in all my costs, i don't make much on this type of project.

fetch lumber (hour drive each way, gas costs, lumber costs)

design and make and finish it (about 3-4 days of my time)

pack and ship it (box and packaging and shipping costs)

i'm into it for about $75 direct costs, so i might make $200 for 3-4 days of effort.

yeah, about $10/hour. baller.

they wanted something else, but i have no idea what that something else is.

fine, send it back.
