that's how much one firm would charge me to gain the 24 hours of 'continuing education' the state of Maryland has deemed i will need to maintain my Professional Engineer license.

looks like that license will lapse come next March.

haven't used it in 4 years, still have one in Florida (cheaper to maintain). have had the MD since 1990.

get this, they will let you go on retired status after 25 years....for a fee. screw that. i'm not defined by my job or my PE license.

A PE used to be like gold but if you don't need it anymore than I guess chuck it.

i'm an old fashioned engineer, i think in feet and pounds and BTUs, i can draw my ideas with a pencil, but i can type my own reports. no one is interested in that, so screw them, i'll stay retired (50 this year) and have my time to myself.
