Walmart is pulling all confederate flag merch..

The market for that particular design has been waning for a while now. I know because a friend is in the business of selling them to the people that normally buy them and sales dropped off in 2005 or so.

I do much of his inventory acquisition and his requests last week for the 4th of July Weekend restock were 'No Maltese Crosses, No Confederate Flags. Need Reapers/skulls, 2nd Amendment, POW/MIA, Infidel, Isis, Jane Fonda"

The market is bikers, pretend bikers and motorcycle owners, not normally people that shy away from controversy.

I almost wonder if we should order some... actually....

It represents bad things to one of the major cultures (African Americans) in the United States. I know this is a knee jerk reaction but I am for putting it in museums and not state flag poles now. I truly think in this case, a knee jerk reaction is right and has taken too long. I think any symbol a state has adapted when segregation was challenged (50's and 60's) should be removed. Up until now I often thought that the fervor over the flag was much ado nothing but now I don't. AS a group, I hate white suprematist.

As a person of color of conscience, I certainly understand why some say the CBF represents oppression, racism, and terrorism. But logically, removing the flag from the S.C. capital won't stop racist and prejudicial attitudes in people.

I think the knee-jerk reaction of people in this case is to feel their way through the problem instead of thinking their way through it.

And, of course, opportunistic politicians are all-to-eager to get on board with conventional wisdom in the midst of a an election year.

No state in their right mind would put a swastika on their based on what it stood for. Why is the Confederate flag any different ? I'm sure that a lot of Germans felt pride with their flag and couldn't understand until after the reports of the Holocaust what all the fuss was about.
Not every German was associated with war atrocities just like not every Southern person was associated with slavery. But to keep the symbol out there is just S. Carolina thumbing it's nose at everyone else.
I agree-the Confederate flag has a place in a museum. Not as a constant reminder of our division.

When remodeling the bathroom, I SO much wanted to plant flowers in the old one, toss the tank lid and so to plant both spots but wife would have NOTHING TO DO WITH IT~~~!!!! she ready to move OUT.....I thought it would have been funny as shit.....so we compromised....

she had an old iron chair, I put some hardiboard for the seat area, cut a large hole in it, put a flower pot in it, and we planted

PEETUNIAS......I hung a sign on the back of the chair, saying PEEtunia Potty Chair......

stone serious.....but the PEEtunias died one winter, so now it's just a birdbath chair, sign gone.....time moves on......
