I got my wife's engagement stone from Good Old Gold, a reputable NYC diamond seller. My local jeweler custom made the setting from a design I made.

Have you considered hiring a professional gemologist to go with you and examine whatever you decide to buy? With the kind of money you are spending, I think a consulting fee would be money well spent. No different than hiring a mechanic to do a thorough inspection of a car you were thinking of buying if you were someone who didn't know much about cars.

its just that , well have you ever been to a jewer and they try to sell you the brooklyn bridge, its a trust thing , yes i have money but some people are not trustworthy

A VS1 diamond that is F in color won't be cheap. And it should go up in value as getting good quality stones is harder and harder.

My wife's wedding ring was a VVS1 and E color. Yeah that hurt a bit, but it was what she wanted (she picked it out).

It wasn't cheap when we bought it. It was appraised even higher last year. It's been a good investment piece for us, along with some other things we've bought over the years.

how many karats? i can get a smaller carat but if you go below 1k it just doesnt impress, i am looking at 1 1/5 or bigger
