Well, I’m back to square one.
I called today to make hotel reservations in Key Largo.

Then I was told it is a 2.5-hour car ride from Miami airport to the resort.

No way I’m going to spend hours in a car after hours in a plane.

Doesn't the hotel have an airport shuttle? Or a helicopter shuttle?

I'm guessing you have extremely limited travel experience.

Safe guess considering it takes you forever to decide on a domestic destination

People have booked their vacations. Enjoyed their vacations. Returned home....since this thread was started

You’ve never driven highway 1 down the Keys. Rent a vert, drop the top, turn the tunes up and just cruise. Stop at the tiki bar right before 7 mile bridge. Watch the manatees and drink a couple of cheap beers. Stop by Big Pine Key and see the small Key deer. Stop at the Key West museum and see Robert the Doll, one of the key players of Key West ghost lore.

Fly into Lauterdale and drive to KW. Stop in S Miami and grab probably the best Cuban sandwich known to man and cruise to KW. It really doesn’t get any better.

I have zero effort/energy in me to do driving or site seeing.

I haven’t worked in 8 months and I’m still exhausted.
If I had a fuel gauge attached to my body, it would show empty with a hole in the tank.


I just want to sit down in the hot sun.

He'd be better off flying into PBI & stopping in Delray Beach....I'd buy him a nice meal

There is zero energy to drive highway 1. You are in a drive train. As long as you can slightly press a gas pedal and brake pedal, slightly turn the steering wheel left and right, pretty much zero energy required.

I was essentially in work prison for 26 years.
About 15 years ago I drove out of my normal route which was only 5 minutes out of my normal route.
I saw new things that were foreign as if a stranger was driving around.


For 26 years, if I wanted to see the sun I had to look out a window.
