Let me tell you this; you trespass on my property; you will see me face-to-face, and I have zero hesitation to call the police. This will stop your workday - dead in its tracks; it will turn out to be a zero production day for you and your crew.

Don't want this hassle ? It's this simple; If you want to have a work day go smoothly & flawless... don't ridicule private propertry owners. Show proper respect by knocking and obtaining permission before going outside any easement path.

If you have encountered rude workers on your property, it's good that you gave them grief. They missed a few basic lessons somewhere.

It's easier to get along with people then to argue with them, and no one I know gets paid extra to argue. They get paid to do the work. Office conflict is largely the same issue. You get paid to do work. You don't get paid extra to have conflict and drama.

If you feel like maybe somebody is running some kind of scam, I'd say you should ask the worker to call his supervisor and have the supervisor speak with you. Keep working up the chain of command until you have satisfied yourself that the worker before you is legitimate. If you need to see a utility rep in a marked vehicle, then that's what you need to see. As far as I know there isn't any kind of one-call number to verify city workers, utility workers, contractor workers, etc.

Note: there should be no reason a utility worker would need to enter your home, so if they are asking to go in the house, that might be a red flag that something isn't right.

The scams I see on the news always seem to revolve around the fake worker needing to go into the house for some reason.
