Are you doing inpatient chemo ? I was doing outpatient and going home every night. I made the same choice as you and pre-empted the hair thing. Take care of yourself and make sure you eat.

At the moment, plans are all the other chemo treatments will be outpatient at the clinic. no more hospital stays please.. 6 treatments total, 3 consecutive IV days, then a 3 week break.. 3 more IV days.. repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. Wrap up in June-ish, then radiation. (The main reason for ER CT Scan and the hospital stay was to avoid any insurance delays getting the ball rolling.). what a crock of BS.

It's great being able to go home every night. I ended up with a 3 day hospital stay when I became neutropenic. So if your red cell or white cell count becomes low, they may hospitalize you again. As I said before, if you need any info, it's still pretty fresh in my mind.

That is where my Dad is going right now also. Seems like some really good people there and they have done a good job making sure he is comfortable and getting the attention he needs.

My wife is a survivor, three years now Not to draw away from your fight but make sure your other half is doing OK too. It was hell not knowing exactly what was going to happen to Mary while she was getting treatments.

I won't bump this again, but a few have reached out and ask so I thought I'd just do a quick update here. From FB.

Med update: 2 weeks ago today, I was diagnosed with cancer. It’s been a roller coaster ride I wish on no one. The support, notes, cards, prayers and love have been overwhelming, and I thank each and every one of you. The first round of chemo was done before I was released from the hospital. Since then, I’ve been home recouping and reflecting. I lost a bunch of weight, lost my appetite and food tasted horrible. Luckily, that is going away, and my weight has leveled off. My energy is back and I’ve walked over a mile the last 2 days …and I will walk daily!! I’m sleeping a little better at night (sorta) The next round of chemo starts the 18th, 19th and 20th. Once that’s done, a few CT scans and another MRI will be performed, measurements taken, and we’ll have a better idea on how the treatments are working and what our options are. With faith, science, love, determination, positive attitude and support of my family and friends, I will get through this! And finally, a huge thanks to my wife, Carmie, thank you.
