OP....I say have an advanced directive and someone you're positive will carry out your wishes should you be unable to speak for yourself. I'm glad you're still here and posting, though, and hope you will be for a long time. |

[QUOTE=Torqaholic;607319]People should know better than to ask for my thoughts. But since you did know that I only speak for myself, never others.
First of all I'd want to make it look like an accident. People deal with that better than suicide and it will minimize mental anguish for those I care about. There are lots of ways people die that are never called suicide. For example parking your car in a ditch and wandering off into the woods during a snowstorm to freeze to death. Happens plenty, ever heard that called that suicide? That is not a painless way to die-- pure agony at its best. |

No one should have to suffer the indignities that come with terminal illnesses, and should have every right to choose for themselves. Period.

Something along the lines of Vanishing Point would be fitting for me.
It's easy to speculate when you are not in the position. I don't want to be a burden in the end. I think when people start losing interest in my condition, it is best that I go. |

That pain you're referring to only lasts a short time. Maybe 10 minutes or so. I've felt that pain more times than I can count and crossed the threshold into hypothermia on several occasions. Beyond the pain is like sitting on the beach sunning yourself. Of course, the next step is falling to sleep and there's no waking up from that.
Not a good thing to play with if you don't intend to kill yourself. Time is of the essence in returning to a heat source but trying to run only results in a little baby step shuffle. Fingers become completely useless. Good luck figuring out how to get a key into the car door. You can ask others for help but they probably won't understand you I recommend trying to use the heels of your palms to hold the key (works for me). Then you get to experience the joy of warming up again. This is far more painful and lasts much longer than the pain of getting cold. The thought that I'd rather die than undergo rewarming has crossed my mind. I know what's coming and dreading the hell out of it |
