I have two cousins in the area (yup crazy libs) I will visit. I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to endure if they start……

My main reason to see them is to show my disapproval of them returning to the US in retirement for our SS and Medicare…. This after spending their everything in Germany for their entire lives. They patronized and spent all their earning in a foreign country now come back….? I no like!

I81 must have more trucks than cars. It sucks!

Our host told us we arrived at a great time as they had just come thru this area cleaned up and removed all the crap, trees, brush piled up 30’high! She said the river rose 25’ just in front of the BnB we’re in. Luckily it higher up on the hillside.

Even though it's only 90 minutes from me I haven't been to Asheville in at least a year, and that was to the airport. All I've seen is pictures of the flooding.

Upstream creeks here were devastated. The floods created what could be described as a moving dam of rocks and debris.

We right on the Ivy Creek 20 minutes north of Weaverville. Nice and quiet. Stars out last night were amazing!

There's just no beating Banner Elk, IMO. It has it all. The only downside I can think of is runaway shopping carts and perhaps the occasional Floridiot.

Other than that, heaven on Earth.
