Wow. Finally got back and saw this. The block under your faucet is a "stock" size that are easily obtainable. The one in the stock pic looks custom like a cut down stud. Either way works. With the plastic block, you need to be close on the plumbing and with the custome you just need to be able to cut to size.

I love PEX. I would not use it in this application.

You have plenty of room to cut and insert a slip joint and new laundry faucet.

I don't disagree. I picked up this slop sink as a clearance deal at Lowe's a couple years ago...$25. It gets the job done and defiantly doesn't need to be fancy. My wife uses it for cleanup in her pottery studio, and I use it when I need to get degreased or whatever. It's also great for cleaning the hot tub filter.
