Also, another forum I'm on allows you to select part of someone else's text and quote just that part instead of having to quote the entire thing and delete the parts you don't want. Saves time!

Well, yeah, but the other way is much easier. Here's a screenshot from the other forum. You simply highlight the text you want to quote and it pops up an option to quote or reply.

But that just gives you a blank quote as I'm doing, with author unknown.

If you want to reference the author, you have to include that info:

Every liberal I know (about 8 including 3 family members) live their lives VERY conservatively. Stable marriages, no drunks or druggies, no smokers, very modest, are as honest as the day is long, and are likable in personality.

The problem is that they've been gaslit all their lives by the left-wing media -- who present themselves very smoothly as "just normal."

Anyone outside of this world-view is a "radical white supremacist right-wing extremist." They actually believe this.

The demonic LGBT-etc, pedophiles, Soros judges, BLM criminals, Antifa, et. al are outside of their knowledge bubble and the "useful idiots" will deny that they are tied to them politically. I don't know who they think those people are, but the libs I know would in no way think they are tied to those people politically. They are that ignorant.

How about a preview when you use the mention feature? Right now when you type @Rob you don't know if you got the username correct until after you submit your post. It would be nice if the link would be added when you click the Preview Post button so you can know you got it right.

Back in the day, the only way you could post images on a forum was to find an image hosting site, post the image there, then copy the image link to the forum where you want the image to appear and surround it manually with [img] tags. That's old school, but I still have do it sometimes.

Ten or so years ago, forums figured out how to do this all in the background. Using the image option icon, just click an image on your device and bingo, it appeared in your post. What is actually happening is the forum itself is hosting the image, putting [img] tags around it -- all done automatically behind the scenes.

The Barn hosts your images with one's personal "Albums" pages, but there are a lot of steps involved and the capacity is quite limited.

To me, this would be the best single upgrade. @Rob

I will do some reading to see if any of this is feasible. It may be that we are so far behind on updates that we may not be able to do an upgrade easily.

As for the storage/hosting of user photos is a nice thing to have, but in reality it uses a lot of disk space for that; which in turn raises the monthly operating expenses for the Barn.

As much as we like all of our Barners, we do like to maintain a "barn work" / life balance ourselves. Adding to those complexities adds to the time that the volunteers here have to spend maintaining the back end of the operations.
