Great cars and winners everywhere, despsite obvious drawbacks. How on earth did the useless management give away such a leading position and basically sink below the waves? Maybe nobody wants tiny low seating cars now.

After graduating I spent my "last free summer" travelling round the US on a special student visa, starting with a month as a waiter at a swish resort on Cape Cod. One of the bus boys had an Austin Healey 3000 and TWO surf boards. We had good times on our afternoons off. ( Deek, are you here? )

The Brits made some beautiful cars. Jaguar XK 120, 140, and 150. The XKE, 1955-1962 MGA's. Austin Healys, Lotus, and TR-3's. Not anymore unreliable than Italian and American cars.

Very cool! My second car was a '71 Fiat 124 Spider. These little old convertibles deliver a much more outdoor feeling than anything modern thanks to the windshield shape.

My Dad also had an XKE. He'd make one us lay down in the back under the rear window

The '59 MG in my post above was a two seater, one night taking a girl home form a party with my buddy in the shotgun seat she had to straddle the transmission tunnel in a short skirt.

We were all a bit tipsy but I'll never forget her saying, "If you hit 4th gear like that again we'll have to pick out furniture together"

My brother still has his '66 Austin Healey 3000 MKII. He loves that car (for some reason)
