I've said it before, Rangers are solid rigs. My S/O has had hers for 24 years and it still runs and operates fine. I've done the front brakes twice and shocks once and plugs once.
A good friend bought one new in '93 and put over 580,000 miles on it. The spare engine he bought at 200k miles 'just in case' was never needed. He sold it last year for $3500. ( I think it was $5000 new)
Rangers have a full boxed frame, solid driveline, and are a handy size with better seating than Toyota or Nissan. And for what a lot of pickup drivers do, all the truck needed. I have a first gen Tundra, which is slightly smaller than the new Tacoma and new Ranger, but it's a v8, rear wheel drive 4x4 the size of a '69-'72 C-10 or F-100, and fills my needs perfectly. Where I go and what I do, a late model, full size pickup is too obese to fit the trail. I don't need grilles that are 6 feet tall and load heights that are 5 feet off the ground just to 'look tough'. **** all that hype.

Still have a pair of 15x10's reverse mags in my garage had them on my '79 Firebird with L60's.Swapped out the rear axle for a Richmond posi geared 3;73 out of a 74 Trans Am and new WS6 six leaf springs.Ran a hopped up 400 could do dry doughnuts all day with it.Still miss the car but not the speeding tickets.
