Sweet! And thanks for buying BFG KDW's.

Is "BE" in the tire code?

I was one of the ones to request pics, thanks Mike for sharing! The car looks great, there is something wild about Mopar muscle.

PS: Is this the one that Bucky broke?

Looks great man. Even though my Camaro has good driver quality paint, it is going in the body shop here in a few weeks for a freshening up. Even though I'm not a huge Mopar guy, your car looks fantastic. They did a good job.

If you are looking for someone to do the work, Advantage Autoworks in NRH is a top-notch shop.

Thanks Mike!

As far as in your face Mopar colors go, it's not even half as outrageous as Panther Pink, In-Violet, Limelight or G0-Man-go, but I believe purple became the default Mopar color when Direct Connection (predesessor of Mopar Performance) named the HP cams "purpleshafts". I haven't owned one in years but I would love to own another Mopar. Problem is, the prices even for pedestrian models is absurd. I sold my super solid 72 Sebring Plus about 12 years ago for $500 and I am seeing rotted out shells for ten times that now.
I really love the 71-72 B-bodies.

I take it you work for BFG? The code I saw (the one that comes after the tire size) was "DT" although I wasn't really sure where to look.

So do I. The first one I remember was a '71 Charger R/T in Hemi Orange that a kid in my auto shop class had as a daily driver. There are no $500 Road Runners left, but you'd be surprised. Watch the auctions and the classifieds. There are some great deals to be had out there right now.

I wasn't about to re-paint the Challenger anything but Plum Crazy because it's a high-optioned original car. Doing that would tank the value. I do get a lot of waves and thumbs-up when I take her out.

I would never re-color a purple car, it's just that I see a lot of cars re-colored purple.
If I could find a nice 71-72 Roadrunner, I would trade my 70 LS5 Stingray straight up.

I would love a 71-72 roadrunner or Satellite, no stripes, no front or rear spoiler, half vinyl top, rally wheels.
Hood could be a double cutout or a air grabber.

I like purple, just not the spoliers, louvers and stripes.

John is at BFG xraying tires now. Look for DOT and then there should be two letters and some numbers. BE is the code for tires built at the Tuscaloosa plant. I have BFG KDW's on the vette.

DOT 4M 8R 4811 R111

Does that help?

I always thought that the Air Grabber on the 3rd Gen Road Runners/GTX's looked kinda awkward. Almost like they were put on as an afterthought. The engine plate cutouts weren't much better, but at least they looked like someone gave it a little thought. Plymouth should have created a separate power bulge hood like Dodge did for the Charger. Would have really set the car off nicely.

Anyway...good luck finding a 3rd Gen Air Grabber setup. It'll set someone back $3000 IF they can find one. Hoods alone are $1200 and there are no re-pops made as of yet.

You might try going down the road I'm taking. The Bee isn't really worth all that much. The original engine is long gone and the transmission was converted to a 4-Speed (although I was told it was done by a Dodge dealership). I'm really going more of the Pro-Touring route. 4-wheel discs, fast-ratio steering box, aftermarket air, fuel injection soon. You can pick up a Satellite or low-optioned Road Runner for a really good price and make it what you want it to be.

I'll have to ask John. He says: BE is Tuscaloosa, BF is Indiana, BH is Kitchener, Ontario, AL is Eau Claire, Wisconsin. He said 4M may be Greenville, SC. He doesn't have the plant codes list handy.

You are correct, it is an afterthought of sorts.
If you look at an air grabber, its a 71-72 Satellite hood with an insert. Granted, there are a lot of parts, but there are really only two main stampings.

It does look weird when it's open.

I actually had a 73 Roadrunner hood grafted onto my 72.
