Some last minute fluids, had to install all of the clips and springs in the brake calipers. Two of the bleeder valves were clogged, so we swapped them out with the ones from the '96. We also had to bleed the clutch, which I think we still need to work on. Getting into 1st gear is tough.

It's alive!!!

Photobucket is misbehaving, so have to link photos:

Very nice. After all the work she put into that car, you can be sure she will be a careful and safe driver. That's the best benefit of the whole project.

I agree.

I like the fact that she can only have 1 passenger too. Less distractions than a car full of teens.

I'm extremely proud of her, and I know she's proud too.

Still some more to do, but the fact that it goes down the road is a huge milestone, considering how raw we got during the build. It was fun, frustrating, and just an all-around great experience for both of us.

Now it's time to get a '78 Cutlass and do it again. LS7 powered.

BTDT, bought a Saturn for my daughter some 12? years ago, drove it to the DC region, had to remove the Florida tinted window stuff, because of Faryland inspection crap.....but when that was done, I put my hand on the hood, and told the car it had ONE responsibility.....get her through college safely, the car lived up to it's task....

Wasn't in $$ position to help my son that way, maybe just as well.....he is fine, doing well with his engineering courses....after mechanic shop classes.....

We got the new clutch slave cylinder installed, and blead the system again and now the shifter works perfectly!! We also centered the steering wheel. I got her brand new emblems for the rear, so we just finished removing all of the goo from the Miata side, and now I've got to go get some double-sided tape for the Mazda emblem. We used polishing compound on the hood and it looks 100% better.

Indeed.

She'll have Hoosier slicks on this on August 17th. Boris will be bringing her a set of wheels and tires to play with.

Ninja Turtle sticker did a great job of covering the scratch on that fender.

Great work!

Both of you should be proud of what you have accomplished. It looks beautiful. I made some progress this weekend as well, but I don't want to be shown up by a 16 y/o.

I'll post the pic's in Waco's thread

There are a good number of inexpensive (little bit over $100) 15x7 wheels for the Miata. You can get some good Hoosier/Wheel combo deals as well. Here's a guy that I've given a lot of business to for my cars: Phils Tire Service Jongbloed Racing Wheel » Phils Tire Service
