Woody.

I had a very good friend of many years that went through chemo and never lost his hair. He did lose some taste and complained that food became bland. He lost a little weight. I would grab a movie for us and take him for a treatment and we'd watch a movie while they had him "tapped". He did this for a fairly long time and went into remission for several years. He got his appetite back and the weight he lost and was seemingly unaffected in the long run. It's a bump in the road not a dead end. Hang tough because attitude and willpower matters in healing.

Thanks all fo the kind words prayers etc. you have no idea how it makes me feel.

Very humbling.

I have learned a lot I just a few day, but have soooooooo mush more to study and absorb. I feel like my mind has left my body with all this information overload. I am due to get out of the hospital later today. Once I get home I'll read thru this again and see what I missed...

And my dr has said already to expect hair loss in the first week.... bald Woody coming up.

I cannot imagine what all must be going through your mind right now.

I hope the chemo does not make you very sick... and you get to feeling better soon.

i may not post much in this thread, i have no idea what you are going thru, but i'm thinking about you. and praying for you.

Quick update.. please move on if your not interested.

Home last night around 4:30PM. Finally able to relax and think a little. Ate dinner..started to fall asleep in my lazyboy, and at 7:30PM I layed down in my own bed and slept peacefully until 4:30 AM. Pure exhaustion. I think I had a total of 4 hours sleep T,W TH and Fr nights.

Woke up, went to the bathroom.. not really awake yet... and walked into the kitchen to make a cup of coffee. Saw the 10 new meds, the mounds and mounds of medical instructions and proceeded to have my own little private pity party. ( thank God Mrs. Woody is a sound sleeper. ) The pity party was short lived, I made my coffee and worked my way thur all the med info. One script was for an antidepressant-sleeping pill. Read the side effects warning and that will not be used. Way too extreme. I'll ask for something milder down the road if needed... sleep has never been an issue for me. Made it thru all that paperwork, created a med file in the desk and the kitchen counter is now usable. Gobble my pills and eat a bite or 2.



I am finally able to take a real shower this morning and I know that will lift my spirits a lot.. Even I know I stink..after my shower, I'm off to the barber shop for a cut... good bye full head of salt and pepper, hello sexy bald fat guy. my fu cancer moment!!!!!!!!!!!

All for now.. tomorrow I meet with my outpatient treatment center, which has a great national reputation. Friday I sit with the oncologist to discuss plans for future treatment, the deluge of bloodwork.. the nitty gritty. That should be fun.

Hug your loved ones, and if you smoke... or ever have.... or you were brought up in a house with smokers... .. go get a chest x-rays.


Maybe I should create a blog.. never really thought about that..





oh and yes, i will be searching out support groups ( for those that may me concerned and my mental heath!! )
