No pix, but also here were the summer lake homes of the CEO of Bausch & Lomb, CEO of the Marriot Corp., and also Danny Wegman's place, which was bigger than the others. His boathouse, as I recall, held at least 6 boats.

There's many others that I don't know about or have forgotten. Haven't been on the lake since 2011.

I moved into a rural, remote part of Southern Maryland in the early '90s.
The only house for several miles back off a country road. Great when you're young, independent and a bit adventurous.

Not so great when you get older and need doctors, hospitals and grocery stores nearby.

I hear ya, although my doc and grocery store is only 4 miles away, hospital about 15.

But I still heat with wood and coal, which takes labor, some can be strenuous for an old guy. All kinds of outdoor maintenance too. The woods is constantly encroaching on my lawn, it has to be whacked back every couple years or so.

Did a little bit with the chainsaw yesterday, although it all lays where it fell for now. I didn't brush hog last year, but will have to do it now.

A good friend of mine and co-worker for 25 years dropped dead a week ago Sunday chopping wood. He was 6'1, 200 pounds, in excellent shape, and strong as an ox. He walked outside the house, had a massive heart attack, and was dead before he even hit the ground. He had just turned 72.
I figured he's live to be 90+....he was in better shape than most 25 year olds.

Sounds like he died doing what he loved. We should all be so blessed.
