RIP Tom Petty.
I saw an interview with him on one of the News Sights from several years ago...this is when he turned 60. Interviewer asked him how he felt about getting older, and he said if you aren't getting any older, you are dead.  Not trying to make light or be disrespectful of the circumstances, but it just goes to show you the wit of the man. I liked him.

I haven't had XM radio for a long time but Tom Petty's Buried Treasures show was my favorite program there. It was just Tom as a disc jockey playing the music he liked to listen to and talking about why.
He and his band signed with Leon's Russel's Shelter Records back in the day along with J. J. Cale, Phoebe Snow, The Gap Band, Freddie King, and others. |
