I am sure it will end badly for the employees who shot the robbers, but I am sure they are more concerned of being shot and killed themselves over that money - even if they freely gave it up to them as store police dictates.

That's why I say after the dust settles. When it's not a news item anymore.

I'm going to divulge as little info as I can here about a similar story:
We had to do this with a clerk that had turned in a wanted person that had come into the store to the police. The local news picked it up and interviewed the clerk that turned in the criminal. So the clerk bragged about it on the TV news, and I mean bragged. (Later found out there was some bad blood there) The fellow's gang members didn't care too much for that and threatened to hit the store and everyone who worked there. We had everyone else's safety to consider, so we tried moving the clerk to a different store and even offered a paid 2 month leave. Clerk refused, so the clerk was let go. Said clerk then promptly sued, and not only sued but went public with it. You know, being fired for doing your civic duty and all that. So the clerk was hired back and given a do-nothing job. We let the smoke clear and dust settle for a few months while the clerk was allowed to hang themselves with a laundry list of workplace infractions that would get anybody wrote up. When the next dismissal came about, the clerk didn't have legal recourse because everything was documented. And the press was no longer interested; old news at this point.

I swear, in a retail business, you have to watch your own employees more than the criminals.

They are probably going to lose their jobs for violating the store policy.

But, the likelyhood the robbers would have shot them is so much higher now days than ever before. So what do the employees have to lose. Their lives primarily.

Not fighting back is the worst thing employers have done to their employees. The objective probably wasnt to rob the store, but to kill someone and make it seem they resisited.

New police policies of not shooting back or bringing a suspected felone down is setting up the same scenerioes for law enforcement. Just let them run away if there is no 100% positive id. Non compliance and resisting arrest is enough justification to arose suspicious for me.

Kudos to the employees they can get other jobs.
