A little off-topic.
When Long Island roadway system was laid out, those with power purposely built the road overpasses with low clearances.
The reason you will be told is than they did want trucks, boxed and trailers, to have access to the their roads.
The real reason, some say, was to disallow bus routes, as they did not want lower income residents in their towns.

Road maintenance = they run the grader down the road each April to smooth everything out. That's it.
