Hey OP, here are two inexpensive cars that, to me, would be a lot of fun:

That SL500 is a pretty slick car.

I liked them, a true retractable hardtop.
I feel they were have sold MANY MOAR if they opted for the LS7.
I think it was assembled in Bowling Green, so giving it the Corvette drivetrain would have been easy.

Not cheap to keep, as a dood at the Caddy dealer had to replace all hydraulics / mechanics of the roof, the book says to bill for 14+ hours.

Thanks for posting that.
No problem let me know what you want to know. The 650S is an older platform. I have the 720S which is more than double that price. Essentially there's 3 tiers

Sports Series - 570S / 600LT
Super Series - MP412-C / 650S / 720S / 750S
Ultimate Series - P1 / Elva / Senna / etc.

570S & 650S are similarly priced. 570S has newer interior tech. I drove both the 650S has active aero and a much better and more advanced suspension that's missing in the sports series. Both can be had for $150K or less. The one I showed you is a little bit below even that because of the "mileage." However 33,000 miles for an almost 9 year old car is about 3,000 miles a year that's not too bad.

Let me know if anything else you want to know. I just picked out one of the cheapest ones to attract your interest.

Go up a bit in budget and here there's plenty to pick at $140K this one has a nice color, nice options, convertible instead of coupe (they're hard top convertible by the way), and has built in radar from prior owner.

This is actually the main concern I have.

I am looking for something to drive pretty regularly. If I had to guess, It'll be in the 6k per year range. I'm walking that line somewhere between garage queen and daily driver.

I'm not too worried about that mileage on a Viper. Definitely not worried about it on a Porsche or the Audi. How well do the McLarens react to that type of use?

Fun to drive on the street, reliable, cheap to operate, cheap and easy to fix, don't care about rock chips, can park anywhere = late model or new Mazda MX-5.

As much as I love them on the track (and they are phenomenal fun on a track), I'm just not really a fan of them as a street car.

I have kinda the opposite perspective. On the track, I prefer to not have to be in my mirrors all the time. On the street, slower cheaper cars are more fun. I can see it both ways though.

Miatas are the by far most fun when it's with other Miatas. Yea, with higher powered cars in mixed running, not so much.

The reason that I'm not a fan on the street isn't even related to the speed. There's something about them that I can't really even explain. They feel... fragile? I feel like I'm going to break something every time I grab a gear. I feel like I am going to break the seat every time I put my ass in it.

Which of course is weird because their ability to withstand beatings is part of what makes them great on the track.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with a C6 ZR1.......a 40 minute drive where you can stretch its legs occasionally will bring many smiles to your face........they are quiet, and comfortable, confident cruisers, with nearly 0 maintenance has been my experience; only oil and tires. Fuel economy is acceptable, around 23 MPG at 80 MPH......it will run 120 MPH all day, and beg for more.........and this is the perfect color.......and options, they only come a couple of different ways, so not a problem

EXACTLY why it made the short list so far.

If you couldn't tell by my choices, part of what I like is having something that I'm not likely to see another of in a given day (or week). The C6 ZR1 fits that category perfectly. And yes, Jetstream Blue is the color that I would lean the most towards.

You forgot the C5 Z06! Or even a base C5 with a stick! Or a base C6 for that matter.

Been there, done that.

Had an 02 Z06 for years as my daily that eventually morphed into a track car. Still WAY at the top of my all time favorites but want something this time that I haven't had yet.

I'm not a fan of the base models. There is some deep rooted character flaw that I always have to have the best version of something (if it is even remotely reasonable) or I am unhappy with it.

If I have a Corvette, it has to be a Z06/ZR-1. If I bought a Porsche, it would be a GT(something). My current car is the S6. An A6 never crossed my mind. It's not just cars, it's TVs, and all sorts of things. TVs are fresh in my mind because I need a new one for the basement and I can't bring myself to buy anything but "Master" series Sony... despite it being way more than I actually need. Yes, I have issues.

I may be selling my 2015 E63 AMG S. Shoot me a pm if that may be of interest.

2nd owner (since 2019), bone stock, never raced, 48k miles and excellent condition. Always maintained by local Mercedes dealer.

Also a thumbs up on the suggestion of a used Audi R8 V10. I've tracked them more than once in Las Vegas. Lamborghini Huracan in a tuxedo with 2" extra headroom.
