I purchased a car from a banker oner time. We made the transaction at a branch. In NC you have to sign over the title in the presence of a notary. Then we went to a teller, he made out a deposit slip and I handed the teller the cash. The seller never even counted it.

The retired gentleman I bought my '66 GTO from last October would not take cash or a cashier's check. He was a life-long stockbroker/CPA/finance guy and insisted on us both going to the bank (we both had the same bank) and doing a direct transfer into his account. So we drove into town, had a cup of coffee, and did the deal. Easy-Peasy.

My last sale was long distance. I did a purchase contract via email, with PDF signatures. He did a wire transfer to my bank, and I called my bank to verify the funds, and that they could not be reversed. I then signed the title, notarized, and sent it next day FedEx to him. He arranged the pickup, I hid a gps tracker in the car and sent him the link where he could see it in real time. He mailed the tracker back to me in my self addressed, prepaid box.
