I don't think you can reuse that piston. Sorry to hear about the bad news.

I feel your pain. My car is OOC due to a bad piston. Sooner or later I’ll pull it out of the car.
But you know how this ends. Engine is out, might as well replace the clutch. Trans has a crapload of track miles, might as well rebuild it or get a rebuilt unit. Well shit, might as well rebuild the rear since all that’s out. By that time you’ve spent some real money.

Uhhhhhh, yikes. Where are you pulling piston parts from? What pistons did you have in it? Wasn't that engine all forged guts?

What I don't get is how an LS engine could possibly cost $54k. You could buy 2 complete SB2s for that with thousands left to spare.

I think he was referencing VatorMan's post above. It wasn't just the engine.

You're right though, for 50K you can buy a top fuel dragster engine. Wouldn't be practical, but it would sure get everybody's attention at the auto cross.

It that's the complete build and not just the engine it certainly makes much more sense.

Not trying to be a dick... that number just completely floored me.

This makes me cringe. Sorry Craig! I wish I lived closer...I'd love to get greasy troubleshooting and during the remove/replace process!

First instinct is to by an LS7 crate engine and return the car to stock and sell it off. Now that I have the pristine '09 Z06 garage queen, I might go in a different direction. Might be time for something completely different to race. I will certainly take some time to make that decision.

Hey, on a bright note, I can build C6 Corvettes and NA Miatas in my sleep.

BTW, I saw the GT3 RS and it will be fine. He even cleaned about 10 pounds of rocks from the underside of his car and finished all of his laps. He'll need a new rear fascia, but zero body panel damage. He dodged a bullet.

He lost it where I blew up. 20-30 cars had already gone through that area after the clean up, but I hope it wasn't my fluids that caused him to lose the ass end.
