What's the problem you have ten miles to spare it's not like you have to deal with the North Carolinuh flea bumps to deal with.

There's a fast charger about 2 miles down the road on the way home, but no need to pay for that. I'm charging level 2 while at work today so no biggie.

and no, I don't feel bad about it since the college is installing free chargers in the parking lot, but hasn't gotten to my campus yet.

"Free" government electricity is just to gaslight/browbeat people into buying EVs. It won't be "free" forever.

But this isn't news.

I fuel up twice a week most weeks.
Usually never let the tank go below 1/2 full.
Looking forward to installing a 500 gallon diesel tank at the farm. Going to be super convenient to top off the truck right there at the house.

You should charge at work every day if you can get a free charge

Do you pay your employer for using electricity that they pay for?

I have news for you, I don't think that there are too many government paid free chargers. Most FREE chargers are at private businesses who use it as a marketing tool to attract business of EV owners.
I get a lot of my free charging at a private business (software company) which has a sign that they allow the public to charge at their business as long as it's outside of their business hours as the chargers are used by their employees during work hours. There is a kids playground a block from that charger and when I take my kids there, I'm charging for free.

Do you realize that the cost of a level 2 charge is a ridiculously low amount for any medium sized or larger business? Many chargers are at supermarkets or whole foods type places and they usually have 2 - 4 free level 2 chargers.
A supermarket of that size probably pays a five figure amount per month for electricity. Do you think that they care if they pay $300 more per month for the chargers?? I doubt it.

My Valero, which I get my corn, down to $2.59, is less than 0.50 mile from my house, no inconvenience at all, easy in, easy out, they need to get fresher Skoal, as I will not buy theirs, too dated.

In comparison, the telsa charging station at a nearby target is always full, I always see people standing outside their dead vehicles in rainstorms trying to jump the line. I only stop to assist when I see smokin' hot babes that can figure their inputs.

There is no free lunch.

To compensate, they are likely increasing the cost of whatever products or services they provide -- slight though it may be to the consumer.

I don't even think about what filling my tank may cost, nor do I care what the price is per gallon.

It's not been an issue since I was a teenager.

So, you are telling me that if Whole Foods Market has a $30300 electric bill instead of a $30000 electric bill, they will raise prices?

Typical EV owner bullshit non-response. Regardless of how much it costs, you took something that someone else is paying for. If was running low on gas and needed 1/2 gallin to make it to a gas station, would it be OK for me to take the gas from my employer's maintenance building without reimbursing the company?

Yes, $300/month is most likely not a big deal for a supermarket but, yes, they do care.
They care about all costs. Again, you're taking something that others are paying for, all the while pumping your chest out because it's "free". It's not ****ing FREE!

There is an app called plugshare that lists all the chargers. Some people choose to shop at one place over the other because the one they choose has a charger.
Just a few customers that make that choice based on chargers at a particular place bring in more money than it costs the business. It's called "marketing"
A billboard costs you more than $300 per month.
