I wonder what they'd do if the #1 corvette dealer threatens to or actually does take his business elsewhere?

The claim is that mods can't even see your PMs. Assuming that's a lie (every forum I've ever run has given me full ("root") access to everything, including "private" messages; if it's not end-t-end encrypted assume it's available), they won't admit that they banned you for the contents of your PMs - they'll trump up some other excuse.

In any case, good luck in your quest.

Unless they installed some sort of forum modification to facilitate it, mods definitely cannot randomly browse other's PMs*. Admins, possibly, but there's a lot of "ifs" to that as well.

In the admin control panel, there exists no simple option to access or read anyone's PMs. Not from someone's profile, not anywhere.
However, there is an option to execute SQL queries. If an admin knows his way around the database, and knows the specific table and column names involved, then yes, PMs are not encrypted and could be obtained by running such a query.
If the admin has root server and/or database access, then it's easier to do the same outside of the VBulletin control panel, especially if a database GUI is employed (ie; PhpMyAdmin). Back when Troy owned CF, I'm certain the admins had such access, and some likely did exactly that (read member PMs).

Under IB ownership, I highly doubt the current crop of forum admins are given server access, as IB has their own techs that maintain the server side stuff. I also doubt most even have FULL forum admin privileges. VBulletin does have "administrator permissions" settings, and for a site structured like CF, it would make little sense to have every admin "fully enabled", so to speak.
So things like the maintenance panel (where one can run db queries) can be enabled/disabled on a per admin basis, and given that database tools in the hands of someone that doesn't know WTF they're doing can potentially be a very dangerous thing....I seriously can't imagine someone like Cumdawg or Vetteman Jack having those sorts of privileges, even though they sport the admin title under their name.

*The notable exception as to how mods and/or admins could read someone else's PM: The fact PMs can be reported just the same as any post in a thread. When someone reports a PM, the contents of that private message is shared with the mods tasked with handling reported items.
So for example if you PM someone there and say "Hey, **** this oppressive shithole, come join The Vette Barn", and the recipient decides it's spam and reports it...Then yes, the mods will see exactly what you sent and you can bet they will take action against you for it.

So, if Anj wants to set up a date with toots, all I have to do to help is report his ass?

I have never been given access to PM files where I lead some of their communities. I don't think it happens.

You know, Rickles aka WB never had a problem with him? I replied honestly as well? He didn’t believe I was being genuine I suppose? That bastard can remember shit and takes notes like the best of them! Really, my memory sucks so I envy….I know some here have different opinions and maybe or maybe not are they founded on truths. None of my business I hardly ever read a word and avoided the kids games over him.

I’ll share a little more from the email I received from the mod. Somewhat interesting to some of you perhaps.
