I agree. In fact, 20+ years ago, a friend of mine built a shop with a 2BR apartment above it on his acreage. He never did get around to building the house, as he has other properties in the area. It's perfect for working on projects, hosting events, etc. There is upstairs and downstairs plumbing and it is totally off-grid. Has a second story deck overlooking the property to the south. It's practical, low maintenance, and nice.

Many of them are. As long as they graduated with a degree from an EAC/ABET accredited program, they can qualify for the P.E. exam after a four year internship, passing the EIT exam, and affidavits from three character witnesses.

You typed "Engineers", which in most of not all states means a licensed professional. Again, a license is not a degree. Perhaps you meant "engineer interns", "software writers" or similar, which simply adds to my point.

Actually I never said that they, or you, are incompetent, simply because you are unqualified for licensure. What I said is that in most if not all states, calling yourself and engineer without some kind of qualifier such as "intern" or "assistant" can get you censured by that state licensing board. It's no different that calling yourself a "plumber", "electrician", "lawyer" and "physician".

Regarding product design, quality companies like Dualit and Porsche almost always have licensed professionals overseeing assistant engineers and software writers. If not they have third party oversight, usually government regulators, who witness critical product testing. Their respective governments also have the means to assess fines and even prison sentences if they produce dangerous products.

It amuses me greatly that me stating these simple facts, and it's been well over two years now, have so severely scarred your delicate sensibilities that you feel the need to whine about it constantly.
