You know....so if he's left in the ocean by the dive boat, like those two guys the other day, he can send up a loud siren call. We had the whole discussion last night about putting his head in the water so he doesn't burst his eardrum when he sets it off.

He can also set it off underwater. Not sure how to save his ears in that case.

ahhh. yea. had one. trashed it. if i catch you using it on dives with me i'll disassemble your gear right there underwater damn thing is annoying as hell. my first week in Roatan the whole frigging dive group had one. on every dive, every time they saw a fish one of those things was honking. very annoying and distracting. kinda like crying wolf. after a while you kinda wish theyd have an emergency and just drown already so theyd shut up....

Well that's certainly comforting!

I think the divemasters at my shop have a rule that you're not to use it unless it's a true emergency or you won't be allowed on further dive trips.
