Default Mountain Scenic Drive

On Saturday afetr I visited Russo and Steele I drove around Scottsdale for a while and nothing got my attention. At the horizon facing north I saw mountains and decided to go up there but, to drive within the speed limit (no more than 40 over).

I goggled scenic drives in Scottsdale and found two routes, Hwy 88 and the Roosevelt Dam. Hwy 88 ends but a 22 mile long dirt road connects it to Hwy 188.

Here are few shots

Been there many times during my 9 years in Phoenix. Fished all those lakes along with Apache, great place.

I wish I had more time. I found many many twisty roads but, I have appointment this week. Hmm, We can always do a Bomber Run somewhere else. I would like that mountain drive Friz posted last year, looks like a great drive to me.

Damn Pete, you're beginning to piss me off with all these nice, beautiful, driving the Vette pics. As HP Bushwhacker would say "Knock it off"
Looked like a fabulous drive

I love the Arizona desert. I live there during my adolescent years and graduated from school in Tucson. Never had much business in the Pheonix area though. Cool pics Pete.

Come out this summer and we'll drive it. It's about 65 miles from my house to Alamogordo, NM. From there, you go up to Cloudcroft, NM....4000' to 9000' in 16 miles. Turns from desert to forest VERY fast. From there we go up to Timberon, NM, about 36 miles....lunch, and back the same way.....twisties through a dense ponderosa forest. 72 miles round trip of some of the best scenery anywhere. Then through Mescalero Indian Reservation up to Inn of the Mountain Gods....play the slots a bit, and back the same way.

All doable in one day.

UUuuuufffffffff......

Ive learn most of the "normal" people have things to do, jobs, spouses, pets and that limit people to go away for more than 3-5 days.

To be honest, if I didnt had appointments this week, I would had pop out in EP, call you with the "Hey, Im here"

5-6 hours are nothing. I did like that non-ethanol gas they have in New Mexico I was getting 26 MPG in Betty Boop and that is a world record for her.

You know I discovered just how big Texas is when we went to Colorado. Just getting out of the state is 7 hrs.. That said, Arizona looks beautiful and I would love to make the trip one day.

All of which leads me to this.....at some point in the future, all of us in the Western USA should arrange a meet up somewhere. Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, California, Texas, hell I don't care....any excuse to take Marco on a road trip. Even Idaho or Montana if the damn cat would drive down.

PS....as long as it's not on Interstate 15 corridor somewhere....I heard that's infested with hippies.

I took the 91 to PHX last month...didn't tell anybody though.

I will say the Border Patrol needs to knock down the height of their speed bumps at the inspection on I-8. came down on one- luckily they are rubber though.
