Operation Yellow Jacket
This is the story of a boy and his car and the quest for fun, fun in the form of Nitrous Oxide.
I ordered a dry plate kit from Harris Speed Works back in August but it was on back order so while I waited for it to arrive things kind of snowballed and delayed the project even more. The good news is that everything is here now and the project has begun. Actually I got impatient and started taking things apart weeks ago and the car has been sitting lifeless since then but I have been doing little things to it in preparation for the big install. Including the snowball items, Operation Yellow Jacket will consist of the following: Dry plate nitrous kit - 100hp shot NANO nitrogen assist Wide band and fuel pressure gauges mounted on the A Pillar Casper fuel pump hotwire kit Custom cup holder switch plate (in this thread) Powder coat alternator, alt bracket and throttle body I'll be using the Microedge controller for my window switch, lean shut down etc and the HSW Interface to pull timing during spray. The wide band gauge ties in to the Microedge to shut the N2O down in a lean condition and my fuel gauge ties in for shut down if fuel pressure drops. The NANO eliminates the need for a bottle heater and provides constant pressure during runs so there is no drop in HP plus it allows the N2O to stay cooler providing a denser charge and more yummy HP goodness. I had to put a bung in my header for the wide band which was a total PITA but it's done and back in the car and everything turned out very nice. For those of you who saw my thread when I started the header project you'll be happy to know my splitter is in the very capable hands of Barry our local paint and body expert and should be back on the car soon. Anyhow, here are some pics of my progress so far. Here is everything that needs to go in the car Parts ready to ship to the powder coater New A Pillar trim and the gauge pod in the paint booth Sweet bottle mounting bracket Solenoids mounted to the intake I mounted the solenoids on the intake for a nice clean install, the FRC goes back on over them and you would never know they are even there. That's all I got for now but I'll be back soon with more updates and pics.

Some pics of my parts from the Powder Coater.
And I used some caliper paint to do my airtube. Stay tuned for more updates.

It's easy until you get to three large wires inside that need to be de-soldered and then you need a high wattage soldering iron which I didn't have and couldn't find anyone who did either so I took it to an alternator shop and they took it apart for me. I'm taking it back Saturday to have it put back together. There was also a plastic cup inside the case that I couldn't get out and broke when I finally did so I have to get a new one of those.

Been a busy last two days, got a lot done! All the powder coated pieces are back where they belong, nitrous plate installed, Interface controller mounted and wired and I took the interior apart today in preparation of installing the gauges, switches and nitrous controller which I hope to have done in a few days.
Interface installed out of the way. Main N2o line through firewall. Custom bend purge line, painted black and is in the oven drying. Powder coated stuff and N2o plate installed.

Made a little more progress today, not too much though as it was Thanksgiving.
Removed the cig lighter from the center console and used that hole to run the wires for the nitrous controller. Got a hole plug from Lowes that fit right in there to make it nice and neat. Also drilled a hole under the dead pedal to run the wires for my fuel pressure gauge and as soon as the silicone dries I'll get that all wired up. Controller in console. Hole behind dead pedal all siliconed up.

If someone was to ask me what the biggest pain in the ass was for this whole project so far I would have to say putting the trim under the pass side dash back together. I still don't think I have it quite right as the final panel (like the ones in the back of the coupe) won't go on just right.
Good news is that all the wires are hooked up except for connecting the switches and plugging in the relays. Solenoids are mounted and lines connected and everything on the motor is done aside from putting the air bridge back on but I might need a new accordion thingy as the stock one might not fit now, find that out tomorrow. I have to put the radio bezel back in, mount the switches and then it's on to the back to mount the bottles! Might have it back on the road next weekend barring any unforeseen tragedies. Some pics: Solenoids: Gauges in: Stealth purge line installed:

He then said, "Let there be Nitrous" and it was good.
Finished up the wiring today and ran some diagnostics, everything passed! Still have to mount the bottles, get them filled and do some more cosmetic stuff but other than that it's alive! The wide band actually worked to my surprise and the fuel pressure gauge is reading a hearty 58lbs. It's really freaking cold in the garage tonight so I'm going inside to get warm and chase the wife around.
