Stolen car leads to high speed pursuit

No, they won't know they are being followed. If the officers didn't engage in the pursuit when the perp took off eventually this asshole will slow down when they know an LEO is not following them.

With all the camera and tech today there is NO REASON to engage in a high speed pursuit.

Unless those air units are already in the air and ground units are close enough, even the radio can be outrun or fooled.

I'd like to know more of the back story. Gone in 60 seconds here purportedly stole it under the guise of a test drive. So she would have had to leave a driver's license. Was it a fake? Unless she gave a fake license, it seems like it would be incredibly easy to track her down.

As to the pursuit, I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, if it was your car, you'd want her caught and your car back. On the other hand, unless you did have that helicopter available, pursuing someone this crazy, even just to keep track of her before your helicopter can be deployed is pretty much a guarantee of a crash, usually involving an innocent driver or multiple innocent drivers.

Got to be a tough call for the police, either way. In this case, multiple innocents had their cars damaged, one probably totaled, one severely injured victim, and the stolen car? It was totaled, too, so the dealer is screwed, too.

If homegirl was being pursued for speeding or window tint, I'd definitely say call it off before someone gets hurt. This woman stole a car, a lot more serious.

Again, tough call.

It's a damned if you do, damned if you dont situation. If these low life know they will not be chased, they will just become more brazen. There are a lot of city police depts that limit high speed chases.

That's not true. My parents live in an affluent town, it's small (less than 5k people) and they have no need for a helicopter.

Wrong-O. I recently watched a Hellcat outrun a helicopter, easily. Stolen car. Nobody could catch him. Not even Motorolla. He did run out of gas after about 20 minutes of 180 mph speeds. Because he was Pakastani, he did not crash the car or anybody else due to no entitlement issues.

There was recent C7 Z06 chase and the dude evaded not only the police helicopters but also all the news copters with their military grade cameras by driving into downtown LA and losing them in the cluster of skyscrapers. Pretty impressive they were able to hit 175 MPH considering they were driving in LA traffic, it must have had the Z07 ceramic brake package
