New strange but maybe welcome twist.
The Man who abandoned the job a while back has been back in touch with a looooooonng list of backordered parts and intent to finish the job. Looks like KitchenAid, or parent company Whirlpool, will foot the bill to repair it come hell or high water. The list includes an evaporator and compressor. |

After further analysis of the syntax of the question asked, I am not aware of a refrigerator compressor that you can fit inside of, but if you did, there would be limited space to do any soldering except maybe components on a small board.
