The problem is not at the "soldier" level. We have the world's greatest military but if leadership doesn't let them do their job, there is nothing that can be done. We need a change in leadership. We could easily shut down the border for illegal immigration. You don't even need a wall. We have so much modern technology that can detect illegal immigration. All we need is to use that technology and let our border patrol and military do their job.

Army Security Agency. 1972-1974.
Volunteer -draft lottery number 363. MOS - 98J (Electronic Intercept Operator) Top secret monitoring of Russian activities across the Black Sea; then pulled back to work US TS submarine missions in the Barents Sea tracking Russian subs while I was stationed on a Navy base in Norfolk - prob the only Army guy there at the time.. This is why I get so goddamned pissed off when people talk about the Russian-Ukraine bullshit and classified documents and don't have f*cking clue. |

I remember that day well. Got called to come in "right f**king now" off of the golf course on Easter Sunday. Rumor has it that they cut my part out of the movie because Brad Pitt was unavailable at the time. |

I got drafted out of High School. U.S Army 1970-73. MOS at the time but got changed was 78B20 i think. I have forgot a lot of things over the years about the Military. My Company thought a few of us should work with the Green Berets. I'am glad i served, i wouldn't have joined if i wasn't drafted. I talk very little about my experience in the Military especially with my Sons and they never really ask anyway. I will talk about Boot Camp and the funny stories that weren't funny back then but are now.

He was USAF radio guy and told me about the “Saigon drop” to avoid small arms fire. He hated to fly since he came home in like 1966. |

My dad was a tail gunner on a bomber in Korea. All I know about his service is that his plane got shot down and he was a POW for a while. He never, ever talked about his service, not sure why but wish he had now that he's gone.

The average lifespan of a door gunner on a Huey in Vietnam was just two weeks. A kid i grew up with lived a couple of house's down was a door gunner in Vietnam. He got drafted 2 years before me. His ETS was done and he left Camp Pendleton and drove back to Burbank which was a 100 miles away. Got killed on the freeway on his way home. I was junior in high school. I remember them playing Taps and the 21 gun salute at the funeral. I lost many friends during that time. To this day i can't listen to the playing of taps.

Same with my dad. He was in Korea too, USMC. He earned a purple heart, but never talked about his time there.

Same here. My father was in the Army and was in WW2, Korea and Nam. He also never talked about any of those times.
