Pro-tip:
Yaddie, you probably have a broken or loose engine mount, probably from that major shopping cart collision the Ranger suffered recently. Probably should check for frame damage, too. |

It's not hard to have a cd that runs a spectrum sweep from 20Hz - 20kHz (freq range of red book CDs) to find the resonant frequency of the problem area.
I can't imagine you'd be able to generate enough SPL to reach heavier parts like suspension components etc that would never "rattle" with the 95db average a factory stereo could produce. Interesting concept that would work for interior parts though. Scott

I am actually a certified vibration technician through IRD. That was about 35 years ago and I have forgotten a lot, but as Scott said, you'd be challenged to locate a suspension part's resonant frequency easily. There are pick ups and instruments that can do it, but it's not something just anyone could do.
I used one of these several times a day... https://www.ebay.com/itm/32462172135...EaAt_IEALw_wcB |

The noise is in the Porch, a damped rattle, sounds like rear suspension. At slow speeds, not when turning or with a load in the rear of the car. That's all pointing to sway bar bushings or shock mounts, but I was under the car while it was on ramps for over an hour/ day trying to diagnose it. It's all tight.

One of the low IQ members here suggested something on the order of lifting the vehicle by other means, I assume jacks or something, to diagnose the problem. I of course did that weeks ago using my SafeJacks, and didn't find any problems because it only occurs when the suspension is not dynamically loaded. I purchased a pair of Rhino Ramps last week so I could attempt to diagnose with the suspension not dynamically loaded.

A long time ago, I worked with a young fellow who had a Honda that he put subwoofers in the trunk and a large amp to drive them. He would listen to his music so loud that the spot welds on the body panels failed. The car was literally falling apart from the vibrations of the bass. |
