If you are a fan of the Youtube channel "Active Self Protection" you'll soon see about 1/2 the wild, off-the-hook, crime and gunfights are videos from Brazil. I wouldn't set foot in that country on a whiskey bet.

Same here. We once had a production facility there be taken over by a gang carrying machine guns. They tied up the gate guards in their shacks and herded all the workers into the break room to rob them.

Oh the memories of doing business in Central and South America, even Mexico is no picnic. Our Spanish Language Headquarters was in Mexico City, and I used to have to go there for a week at a time. Each group of 2-3 had an assigned driver. He would drive us from inside the hotel grounds, to inside the office building where the HQ was each day. If we had to go to meetings outside the building where our offices were, only our assigned driver could take us. We were NOT allowed to leave the hotel, except when in our assigned driver's car.

So much fun it felt like being on house arrest.
