Default Disabled Veterans on the chopping block, again...

https://www.cbo.gov/budget-options/58631
So the Congressional Budget Office is at it again. This time, not surprisingly, they submitted a helpful solution to cut veterans' benefits in December.

Anyone hear about that? No? I didn't either until today, and once I started reading about this, my blood started to boil.
BLUF: In 2021, other mandatory spending, excluding Social Security and major health care programs, represented 50% of mandatory outlays and 36% of all outlays. This "option" proposes reducing spending on certain large mandatory programs without dedicated trust funds, specifically VA disability compensation and income security programs.

A means test for VA disability payments would be implemented, limiting eligibility for households with higher income. Income security programs would see a 15% reduction in spending.

The CBO estimates this option would reduce the federal deficit by $580 billion from 2023 to 2032, with $253 billion saved from changes to VA disability compensation and $327 billion from reducing spending on income security programs. A laughably small amount in terms of government spending.

The savings naturally are worth it, and passing them on to disabled veterans is a great idea by people who unsurprisingly make no mention of reducing retirement for elected centimillionaire and billionaire officials.

As I've said for a long time, you must read these things regularly, or you'll never hear about it until it's too late.

Time to mobilize and write everyone and let it ****ing rip. Make noise about this and make it absolutely toxic to touch. It has to be viewed as political suicide to support this, or you'll feel it by January 1st, 2024

One surefire way to reduce the amount of VA medical expenses is to stop waging bullshit, no win wars, peacekeeping, etc. so we can stop getting our people injured and killed. Pull our people out of harm's way. Of course, do it the right way, not the Brandon way, with the Taliban blowing up our people on the way out the door.

For example, all those people that just got hurt when Iranian proxies bombed our bases in Syria....we're going to be paying for those people, some, possibly, for the rest of their lives. Totally unnecessary, we have zero business in Syria.

Well, there are many ways a Veteran gets hurt in the service. Training ops, for example. We need to train.
But the CBO comes up with ways to reduce spending. I get that.
Veterans compensation should be last on their list..
We have way to many socialists, welfare, BS programs that spend stupid money with zero return, ever.
War on Poverty. 20Trillion to date
Welfare, etc..
Just two examples.

Oh, I understand all that. One of my old neighbors was permanently impaired from, of all things, a spider bite at Ft. Polk, and I knew a girl when we were both just out of college whose husband had gone down on a helo and died, a training accident. And we owe those people, and everyone else who gets hurt or dies in service to America. Absolutely. I'm just pointing out that we need to be damn sure the juice is worth the squeeze before we put our people in harm's way.

VA Secretary Swats Down Idea to Cut VA Disability Pay for Wealthier Vets

It doesn't sound like it'll happen now or in the immediate future, but who knows about later.

Point is, they are thinking about it... You never here of the other programs, like I have mentioned, even being considered.. They know they will fight, literally, back.
I remember a couple years ago people were told their EBT fund were being cut etc. There were riots and mayhem the next day. Truth was, they asked for more, and only got approved for a little more. It was being cut down from original budget request.. Nothing was being cut from the plan they already had..

We should end all federal means tested welfare programs and let teh states tax their citizens to pay for any welfare programs they want to supply.

Watch how fast we can afford to support Vets and our military disabled.

Only if your pay is decreased if this passes. Which shouldn't happen.

Right after Obama took office and before the ACT took affect they kicked 171,000 military retirees in the Southern U.S. off of TRI-CARE Prime. Forcing them to use TRI-CARE Standard which was free. BUT of course they renamed TRI-CARE Standard to TRI-CARE Select and started charging us for that.
