I'm in central Alabama just a few miles NW of Montgomery. My city is elevated well above the surrounding areas. We are seeing some light rain at the moment. Not skeerd.

3-4’ Waves from the Santa Rosa Sound are crashing over my seawall.
Grass will be burnt if not dead on the water side. We are getting about 15-20” of rain. One of my apartments has water on the carpets. Heading out to check on my boat and move the lines if needed. Power still on but it’s blinked several times. |

I'm in Madison, MS, near Jackson, MS. It looks like Hurricane Sally will veer to the East and almost miss Mississippi. I appreciate everyone's concern, and hopefully we'll all be safe.

I'm about 7 miles South of Montgomery and have received only a little over a half inch of rain so far. Our property slopes toward the golf course behind us and the last hurricane that came through flooded their street that runs parallel to us.

Don't come across the bridge. Montgomery told me to design their portion of the road based on the ten year flood. The section between Jackson Ferry Road and Coosada Ferry Road will be underwater if it is not already. The firm that I was with declined to do the site where the houses on stilts are.

Damn. It use to be only a buck. And yes, they are nuts. The elevated house is safe but the car parked under it is toast.

We used to keep our sailboat in Orange Beach on Perdido Bay (Bear Point Marina).
Sold it several years ago to a guy in NJ. It went thru Sandy. Love that area of Alabama and NW Florida, and hope they recovery quickly! |

Damage was extensive. I lost my seawall and about 20-25 feet of land. Quite a bit of rainwater came in through the French doors. No power so I’m worried mildew will start very soon. It’s a mess. My house is unlivable.
Plus an apartment complex flooded- no flood insurance. This will be about a $50,000 ride, at first glance. |

We have had 7" of rain so far and it's still coming down steady. The strong gusty winds have blown the top off the skylight over our hay storage area. Going to have to unstack the hay when it stops raining and get the wet ones off to the side. Not looking forward to getting up on the roof to fix the skylight.

Edit: You don't have a generator? I figured every RV'er has a generator. Maybe you have a portable welder? Get some fans on that water damaged area NOW. Rip out the carpeting if you haven't already, and pull the baseboard and cut sheetrock if the sheetrock got wet. Mold will just travel right up the sheetrock, so you've got to nip that shit in the bud, pronto. Spraying bleach/water solution on your bare concrete floor, and the exposed studs after removing the sheetrock is a must, too. You can also use something like this: Time is of the essence here. (Sea, I realize you probably know all this, but maybe there's somebody who sees this who has a similar problem that hasn't been through all this before and just doesn't know.) Also, if you don't have one, a dehumidifier is a great thing to have, run it on the generator, too. Did you lose water/sewer or gas? If not, and you have, or can procure a generator, I don't see that the house is unlivable at all, especially if the only water damage was blown in, not rising, as in flood damage. |

Still above water here at my place. Although we got a lot of rain it was a slow and steady rain spread out over time and not a ferocious downpour so most all of the water was able to drain away as it came down. We are only seeing a light sprinkle at this time.
