Not sure what you experience where you live, but in severe flu seasons here, if high levels of influenza, they close schools, tell sick people to stay home from work/school recommend all the things I have said on here MANY times. I won't be redundant. As I have stated MANY times, influenza is contagious WHEN the patient is SYMPTOMATIC. I have NEVER diagnosed a patient with influenza that was unaware they were sick = contagious.

BTW - how many years since you have been alive have there been influenza seasons in the US that have killed over 130K in 7 months? We have 5 months to go before we finish computing numbers.

I use common sense: I wear a mask in situations where social distancing is impossible to maintain, like in the office or the grocery store. If I'm out riding my bike alone on the bike path I don't. And I don't throw a fit about having to wear one.

I wear a mask everyday at work and don't throw a fit about it. Our county does not have a mask requirement at this time. Yet now my company wishes to tell me what to do outside of work. Here's a portion of an email I received this morning.

Please review and be clear on the following expectations:

• Your participation in any activities that present higher risk of virus exposure, or fail to ensure social distancing, will most likely result in quarantine from the site.
• Activities where you do not maintain social distancing with anyone outside of people residing in your immediate household will likely result in quarantine from the site.
• A quarantine will be unpaid if you do not follow XXXXXX COVID safety protocols and are quarantined as a result (unless the you choose to use available vacation time or PTO).
• A quarantine leave that is required to care for an exposed or sick family member may be eligible for FMLA leave.
• Work schedule changes, including allowing remote work, will not be permitted to accommodate someone that has been quarantined from the site.
• People that must be quarantined more than once may require additional discussions, including disciplinary action
• All leaders – directors, managers, supervisors, leads, etc. – are responsible and accountable for upholding these expectations across the site.

I will not expect anyone to follow any rules outside of work that are not mandated by the County Mayor or Governor. If the company expects me to follow these corporate mandates, there will need to be a renegotiation of my pay. They are requiring me to make lifestyle changes not mandated by any authority and therefore these additional requirements need to be considered in my compensation.
