Default Anybody else a bicycle person?

I haven’t done any physical activity in 23 years.
I bought a mountain bike 4 years ago and never used it until 2 months ago because of the plandemic.

I love this thing. I go out everyday now for about 15 miles and it’s the best thing I have done in years.

It makes me feel great during the ride but every morning everything hurts.
I thought physical activity was supposed to loosen everything up and reduce pain.

The first mile or so hurts and then I push through mental obstruction and do 15 miles.

I see things in my neighborhood that I have driven past my whole life and now can see through a different perspective.

My friend tells me there is cross country routes for bicyclists and I want to train for that next year.

Came across live musicians playing to almost no one in a very peaceful location last week.

I still have the bike I bought in 1981. I don't ride it much if I can run, but when I had my stress fracture in 2015, I rode it almost 2,000 miles. I still enjoy it.

I still have the bike I bought in 1979. Had it tuned up a few years ago, and haven't ridden it since.

Love to ride bikes, but these days it makes my nuts go numb. Not a fan of that, so I don't ride much. The 1976 bike trail went right past my house growing up, and is still widely used today. I met a lot of interesting people back then when I was a kid, and would ride along with them for several miles. Here is the map.

I rode a lot when I was younger. In the 90's I was pretty avid, riding both mountain and road bikes. Still have a near mint Peugeot PX-10 I bought in the 70's. Started riding again a few years ago but got sidelined when I rediscovered an old shoulder injury while bunny hopping a curb on the mountain bike. Been thinking of starting up again.

Was having the same issue the last times I rode. Didn't matter if I was wearing cycling shorts or not.

I was pretty into mountain bike racing in the late '80s, but have ridden very little since. I still have the bike. It's from the no suspension days. I also have an old road bike I used to train on with all vintage Campagnolo components. I'd love to get back into it again. The mountain biking was a lot of fun.

The other day I tried to ride up a hill onto the sidewalk.
My thinking was get to the edge and then hit the throttle to go up the hill.

Then I realized my legs were the throttle and I awkwardly fell over hoping nobody saw me.

Common problem, especially for those of us getting on in years. My best recommendation is to try a different saddle. Sadly, the more cushion a saddle has, the more likely it is for that situation to happen.

I have seen that done in person, wow the PU truck that did it that I saw laid down a smokescreen that could have hidden a Destroyer or perhaps a Cruiser!

I live on a very scenic lake and we get a lot of pedal bikers up here at the lake. Most of them think they own the narrow curved, no place to pass for miles type road. Show up in large groups do not stop for stop or yield signs. Also many will ride side by side which in this state is not legal!

We also have quite a bunch of Red Necks with diesel PU trucks and occasionally they will do things like that. Its better for them to coal them than other nastier things that happened in the past.

Then you need a new saddle. Go to your bike shop and get your sitbones measured and work on finding a saddle that works. Once you have that, you find the angle that best meets your needs and keeps the boys from going numb.

I have a road bike (Specialized Tarmac) and a race bike (Specialized Shiv). LOVE riding.

not to excuse the PU drivers OR the cyclists, but in a large group, side by side is a better way to ride since it makes a shorter amount the vehicles need to pass. Passing 10 when they are 5x2 is a lot easier than 10 in single file.

I tend to ride on our local army base (Redstone arsenal) as the roads are SUPER smooth AND there is little to no traffic on the weekends or evenings.

We can do a 10-80 mile ride easy down to the TN river and back, so it is safe, quiet, AND scenic with lots of wildlife to be seen as well.

It really is ideal!
