Minnesota Disc Dogs
The lighting here was absolutely atrocious. These were all shot in Shutter Priority @ 1/800. The camera was giving me an aperture of f / f3.2 with an ISO of ,,,,,, ready? ,,,,,,,, 12,800. 99% of the time I shoot in Aperture Priority and I can count on two fingers the times I've used Auto ISO with this being one of them. I let the camera choose the White Balance because honestly, I had no idea what'd work. I had my 28-70, 2.8 zoom set at about 35mm. Once I got the first picture sorted out in Lightroom I applied those settings to the entire group with some minor adjustments here and there. Overall they came our OK. The new 5D MK IV is a real workhorse.

Wow! 12,800 - you'd never know from the shots. I've shot at 6,400 a couple times with the 5D in low light but never with anything moving like that.
Well done! I take it you're keeping the Mk4. |

Part of the reason I went so wide with the lens was I wanted to grab as much light as I could and to maximize DOF when shooting so close to wide open. I tried a few zoomed closer and that just did NOT work. Noise and grain tend to sit in the darker areas and shadows so I over exposed a bit and backed off the exposure in LR which works better than bringing UP the exposure in LR. Considering the horrible conditions these came out OK. And that background just plain pissed me off. |

Good report on the 5d4.
And better report on method; the exposing to the right to minimize noise and adjusting in LR. While I know that tip, I get out shooting and don't think about it. Of course your work now get scored down because the aren't straight out of camera. |

And every jpg posted by everyone here was 'edited' by their cameras profile whether they realize it or not. Their camera is just making changes to the captured image similar to what you do in LR. But that's cool too. |

Sure. You do your absolute best in camera, but shooting with the mindset that you'll fix it later is kinda weak IMHO. The less work I have to do in LR the better. Primarily because I just don't care for that part. |
