Glad I stepped in for a look see.
Friz, the paint is fantastic. Then, I wouldn't expect anything less. Can't wait to see the interior shots. |

So....in just three short pages, we've come from my car coming out of the paint shop to flies swarming around Duke's crotch......
Yep, nothing's changed around the Barn.... |

Thanks....Going to take a breather from messing with it for a while, then start on the interior after the first of the year. Compared to the rest of this particular ordeal, it should be easy (famous last words)

I will sit under a car busting my knuckles, dripping oil in my eyes, and cussing all day long. Working on putting an interior together makes me want to stab myself in the eyes... with a spork. I know I'm late to the party in seeing your pics, but that thing looks great. |

..Friz, does CRC make carpet to fit your car?.. I got the Mass Backed carpet from them for my 89 and it just slid right in, I didn't need to cut anything...Or, maybe you could go to Dallas Texas and have the oriental lady from "Gas Monkey" do the interior for you, it's only 600 miles... She's a hoot.........WW |

It's a sweet ride. If you ever decide to drive a couple thousand miles in it, I expect a ride. I'll even put my 2nd pair of underwear on for it |

The headliner was done at the body shop while the rear window was out, so it's finished. Everything else is available from an assortment of different vendors and is (at least compared to a Corvette) affordable. First thing I will do is hang new door panels on it so the windows will quit rattling back an d forth in the channel and so I have an arm rest again. Next thing is dash pad and gauges. Check these out....from Dakota Digital.... or these.... I kinda like the second one better....retro looking but modern. About the same price either way. The factory gauges are crap, and except for the speedo mine don't work anyway.... |

I agree. I like the 2nd set of gauges better too. Go with them. Anything from Dakota is good ---- even me!!!
Glad to see you have projects going. I started a new one too. I bought a 2001 Chevrolet Express van and am converting it into a camper. It won't be a Class A or a Class C because van campers are called Class B, but my wife says my van camper will be a Class B- |

I think the top would look out of place on a car that is otherwise stock appearing. If you are modernizing the rest of the interior... they just might work. |

Nice thing is all of these clusters come with their own sending units and wiring harnesses.....everything will be wired fresh and not dependent on 45 year old wiring to operate correctly. Both run about $750....which sounds steep, but price out a full set of Autometer gauges..... |

I needed one part to finish the exterior....a set of "sports lamps"....the ones that fit in the grille. 1970 one year only item, and tough to find. I've been looking for a set on eBay for months now with no luck. Suddenly, 3 different auctions popped up....and I won one of them.
These will need a little clean up, but will fit the bill nicely. These were the predecessor of "fog lamps" we have today and don't really do much, but all Mach 1's came with them. The original switch and wiring are long gone....I will just wire them to light up with the headlights. |
